Royal @ Goldendale
Preseason Match.

Ended 1-1. Goldendale is much improved. Long ride! Cierra Miller scored in the early going (abt 10th min). The girls had several other great chances along with a PK, but nothing found the back of the net.
Was a good opportunity to shake the dust off and identify some of the issues we need to address.

Katrina Werlinger gets the honor of scoring the first goal for the Lady Knights on the new field turf!
Mabton is a new program, and as such are just getting things off the ground, but they played hard and did their best to get numbers behind the ball. The clutter in the middle frustrated the Knight attack in the early going, but it made for a good opportunity for the girls to find the wings and switch the point of attack.
It is still early and we are working out a few bugs, but the girls are progressing and that is the main goal.
The center mids - Tawnee and Macey - played well throughout and it looks like they may be developing the chemistry they need to lock down the center of the pitch.
Two of our freshman got their goal tally started, Tawnee picked up two goals, Cierra has scored in both of her games for the Lady Knights, so I am happy with the performance.
Next week will bring stiff competition with Ki-Be away Tuesday, Highland Thursday, and Warden Saturday. Each of these matches will provide us with an opportunity to uncover our weaknesses and the girls should improve with each one.
Thank you to everyone that attended. We had a good crowd and it was fun to be in the stadium at a time when more could attend.

No goals for Royal in this one, but a great growing experience for the Lady Knights.
Ki-Be has had 4 games to gel against good competition vs. Royal's 2 (Against weaker opponents Goldendale and Mabton), and the lack of experience showed for the girls in the first half.
Following half-time things started coming together for the Lady Knights and we left this regular season match happy with the overall performance despite the loss because the 2nd half brought some attack minded play, the girls transitioned well from their defensive shape to the attack, and they started being smarter with the way that they distributed the ball.

Highland came out and put us on our heels strait away. We had a few moments, and 2nd half we got things settled at the back, and created a pair of decent chances, but we never threatened to get into the game. For us it was a chance to try a few different things, and continue to show improvement, and I think we were able to do that. That being said, Highland is clearly a better team and they have some good weapons up top that caused us fits.

Warden - Juanita G 4

A step back for the Lady Knights. The match was a grind - neither team brought much to the table. Frustrating to watch, coach, and even more frustrating to play as there was no rhythm or flow to either team's attack. It was obvious that any goal scored was going to come from a set piece or an error that gifted a goal, and that would decide the result.
In the end, Warden claimed both.
First goal was from a free kick.
Second was from a misplaced goal kick that bounced off of a Warden attacker - right to her teammate who put it away from about 10 yards out.
Hopefully both teams will be able to find a higher level of play before the season is out.

Traveled to Yakima for this League Match.

Lady Knights lacked the intensity required to frustrate the LaSalle attack, and gifted them several goals. Seemed the carry-over from the loss to Warden has given them a real lack of confidence.

League Match

Naches is a strong program again this year. They had good options up top and several girls in the midfield who were strong with the ball.

Royal was much improved in this Match - despite the score. Naches is the highly favored team and we went in with the main goal to get our intensity and heart back. The girls battled for control of the ball and were able to create an organized attack. As the match went on - the defense started to come together and the girls started to communicate much better. They are starting to get a sense of their duties and are getting to the point where they can help each other play as a unit.

We didnt win, but I am happy with the effort and the higher level play. We seem to be back on track and moving forward.

Royal 1 @ Wahluke 2

League Match

Another good match for the Lady Knights. Wahluke played well and had several chances to put the game away, but either missed the target, or Callahan come up with a quality save, but for the most part the Royal defense did well to close down the ball and frustrate the Wahluke attack.

First Wahluke goal came following a bit of confusion caused by the linesman using his flag to indicate that the ball was in, with the flag pointed in exactly the required manner to show that it is out of play. The half-second of confusion was all Hernandez needed to break loose and poke it in.
Royal thought they had answered with a great effort from Cierra Miller only a few minutes later, but the opposite linesman lifted his flag to indicate someone was offside.
Second goal came for Wahluke 6 minutes later on a good effort from Olivarez.
Royal was finally able to answer early in the 2nd half with a good solo effort from Tawnee Gonzales who broke loose down the left channel.
As Royal tried to push forward for the equalizer Wahluke had some great chances to put the result to safety, but the girls were able to keep them out.
A dissapointing loss given this is a match that we look forward to every year, but another example of the girls improvement.

W - Hernandez 10th
W - Olivarez 16th
R - Tawnee Gonzales 32nd

Royal 1 vs. Cle Elum 0

League Match

A Win to get things going for the last few weeks of the season. The Lady Knights pounded the Cle Elum goal with great scoring opportunities, but were disappointed to go into the break 0-0.
At half we talked about not getting frustrated and to keep sticking to the game plan. The girls went out and showed that it was just a matter of time while they continued to force the Cle Elum keeper and the goal to keep the ball out of the net.
Gonzales finally found the net in the 63rd minute when she picked up a ball at the top the 18 and took a low shot to the near post. The Cle Elum keeper did well to get a hand to it, but was finally unable to hold back the pace of the ball on its way into the corner.
This should set up the Lady Knights for a fine run with matches against Granger, Goldendale, Mabton, Highland, and Connell remaining.

Goal:
R - Gonzales 63rd
Shots:
R14, C2
Corners:
R12, C0
Saves:
R - Callahan 2
C - West 10

League Match

Nice work from the girls to dig out a win in another frustrating match. Goldendale put large numbers around and behind the ball and it made the field seem small, but the girls negotiated the congestion created many great chances.

Katrina Werlinger scored twice for the Lady Knights - doubling her goal tally for the year with a single performance.

Great win for the girls.

Mabton on Tuesday.

League Match

The girls made it 4 in a row with a win over Mabton last night. Overall it was a good performance, and we were able to have a little fun and move girls around to different positions to give them a shot a seeing things from a different part of the pitch - which is always good.

Goals:
R - Maria Garcia 26th
R - Cierra Miller 28th
R - Jacky Mercado 53rd (PK)
R - Dani Callahan 66th

vs. Connell

Final regular season match at home. We hoped to play better and force Connell to come up with something special to get by us, but our own errors put us in a hole that found us too far back to ask any questions of the Connell team.
